Horrifying Movies!
Saturday, August 05, 2006
This Thursday, Rani, Zeid, Basel and I gathered at Basel’s house after midnight, and watched “Fragile” (Link), which is “supposedly” a horror movie. This movie falls in a bunch of horror movies I’ve watched lately; all of which were either boring or funny! It is weird how horror movies became so dull and meaningless; watching a documentary these days is a bit scarier.
Fragile is about a night nurse that comes to work in rehabilitated old hospital where a group of children is being treated. Strange accidents take place, and throughout the movie the nurse uncovers the truth of a roaming old nurse ghost who loves the children so deeply that it would do anything not to let them leave.
The plot may sound interesting, but only because I put it that way ;). If you watched the movie late at night like we did, you’ll probably fall asleep within the first ten minutes.
I wasn’t quiet awake myself then, but I remember that at some time during the first minutes of the movie, the nurse was standing in one of the corridors of the hospital when one of the kids approached and told her in a calm spooky tone: “She’s coming!” …
Well, am not sure if that was supposed to scare anybody, or create some kind of tension, but I laughed so hard on how lame that was! My friends also mocked the lame scene and all of us started adding our own blowing wind and booo effects.
Really what a funny movie! Ba3deen guess who’s acting the nurse …

Maybe that explains why we couldn’t stop laughing …
The nurse is Ally McBeal :D
At the end of the movie, everybody was trying to escape the hospital, which was being destroyed by the raging ghost. All children were killed, and Ally McBeal escapes the front door with her machine gun, or maybe I was too sleepy and imagined all that, am not sure ;)
Seriously, if you want to know what really happened buy the DVD! But don’t blame me for wasting your time and money!
Anyway, apart from Fragile, some other horror movies I’ve watched lately were The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Link), Wolf Creek (Link), Dog Soldiers (Link), and The Omen (Link). Texas Chainsaw is a good horror movie that I got more than one recommendation to watch, and I do recommend it to others now; I enjoyed it. Wolf Creek and Dog Soldiers were a bit different from other classic horror movies but nonetheless were boring. The Omen was entertaining, but didn’t scare a bit of me, probably because I watched it at home …
So what’s wrong people? Ana tamsa7et, wella hadool el aflam ma be5awfo wlad z3’ar?

I always avoid horror, but tell me do any of the movies you mentioned include a doll?? dolls in movies.... creepy. If that combo doesn't scare you, then aa janabak mtamse7.

Dolls? I don't think so ...
Maybe there were some toys in The Omen because the devil (b3eed 3annek) was a kid, but I don't think they contributed to the story line.
Thanks for the compliment by the way ;)

Well, Fragile has been at least better than White Noise.... My slogan for that other film is: "I see living people!!", the film started with a guy who sees dead people, so i made it as a joke why dont they make a movie about someone who sees living people... Basel and Rani mocked me suggesting that we see living people all the time... Ironically my idea turned out to be the idea behind that film!!! Spooky :P

Unbelievable Zeid! I was talking to Yaman about White Noise just an hour ago!
Yaman and I have very distinct perspectives on the latest horror movies. Today in the university we had a short conversation on what makes a good horror movie. He said The Omen was good horror, much more frightening than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He also came to mention White Noise and highly recommended it.
He’ll kill you when he reads your comment :D

But he can't deny that the guy saw living people!!!
Black [X] Truder said:
Yeah, the truth is hard to understand sometimes. The guy in the movie must have distrusted his senses to be able to believe that he's seeing living people ;)

white noise was a nice movie better than most of the average horror movies these days.
btw inta mo mtamse7, just wait till they make a movie about your greatest fear and then do the judging, i recommend "room 6".

Hey arabian_terrorist! glad to have you here man :)
Your true identity shall be kept a secret, don't worry. May you kindly keep “my greatest fear” a secret too? ;)

Well Zaid has a point. If you think about the movie after you finish, you'll may think of the idea as "silly". They took a very nice idea, and a real life phenomena, but twisted it a little, hence making the "silly" notion. But the actual idea of being able to communicate with the dead is really intriguing. I still think it was a great movie though, it keeps you on edge till the end (almost), and this is what makes a good horror movie, not just the scares.

Wish I could add my opinion, but I didn't watch it yet!
Anyway, I have a strong feeling that the movie is worth it John Doe, having in mind what you said about it today :)

I think that the film wasnt bad at all... In a sense it showed exactly what i expected to watch, so it lost some of its momentum... But its cool nonetheless!! I think there are no scary movies, in the strict notion of scary... Personally, I dont watch horror movies expecting to be scared -because i know i wont!- but rather watch it for the same reason as anyother movie: The plot of the story!! Horor movies are usually nice to toy with spicy imagination of what could be... Intriguing sometime to get into the head of the those movie writters...
